Camping with kids can be fun and rewarding. It can also be tiring if you’re not prepared with lots for them to do. You can set yourself up for success, however, and everyone can have the time of their lives.
Make sure that anything the kids shouldn’t get into is put safely away. For instance, if you plan to have alcohol in the camper, you need to have it up in a high place and locked up if possible. If there is anything around that you aren’t sure is kid friendly like sunscreen or medications, keep it put away too. For the most part, if you can keep it hidden they won’t mess with anything. You just have to set rules and always keep an eye on every child just in case they find a way to get into anything.
We have electrical hookups if you want to be able to let them watch movies or you can let them bring along devices to play on. It’s really a matter of knowing what the children like to do and what they’re willing to try. If you’re not sure about what to bring along, then find an assortment of board games or puzzles that are age appropriate. If your goal is to stay away from technology, keep that in mind and don’t go with anything like a tablet or a smartphone.
They will spend a lot of time running and playing during the day so you can plan on some sleepy kids at night. It’s a nice time to share stories around the campfire or read books to them by flashlight.
